| After
being out of education for 5 years, I've finally
decided to take the bull by the horns and get back into
it!!
I've always
struggled academically, so going to University is a
gigantic step for me but I'm going to at least give it a
go! I've got absolutely no idea how I'm going to
cope with this or even if I'll be able to get through
the first course, let alone anything else, but I'm going to give it everything
I've got and just take it one day at a time.
These pages are
hopefully going to give you an insight into what I'm
doing, why I'm doing it and how I'm getting on with it.
Maybe, when things get tough and I start thinking about
jacking it all in, maybe these pages will give me the
push and reminder that I need to keep on going too.
So, what have I
studied in the past? Well, I barely scraped
through Secondary School - I got 9 GCSE's and my best
grade was 1 C (the rest were D's and E's) then I went on
to College and studied Childcare for a year - I came out
of that course with a Certificate in Childcare and
Education under my belt and I was really impressed with
my grade too! I can't remember if it was a Pass
with Merit or Pass with Distinction, but whichever it
was I was and still am really proud of it!
I then applied to
go on to the Diploma course but wasn't accepted so I did
a Secretarial course instead. I didn't pass 2
elements of the course so I didn't get the qualification
but as I'd passed several parts of it, I got several
certificates for those (mostly Pass with Distinction and
a couple of Pass with Merit) so I was really impressed
with those too!
Then I went on to
the next childcare course (Diploma in Childcare and
Education) but got kicked out at the end of the first
term 'cos I got pregnant. As the College year had
already started I couldn't start on any other courses so
I left that College and went to a different one where I
did an NVQ level II in Administration.
I went straight
from that course into work and I haven't studied
since.
I'd like to get
back in to studying 'cos I miss learning new things -
I've got an unquenchable thirst for knowledge!
<g>
Because of my
various illnesses and disabilities I can't go to a
Traditional College or University, so the Open
University seemed like the ideal solution! I've
always wanted to go to Uni and get a Degree and I've
always been interested in the OU and the way they work
so I kinda thought "Why not give it a try?
What have you got to loose?!" so I sent off for
some information and the rest is history!! :o)
