Hiya!
Thank you so much
for your interest in this webring... I really do hope
that you will consider joining us! :o)
If you have a
family safe PaintShop Pro website that offers tutorials
written with Beginner to Intermediate level artists in
mind, then you are welcomed to join this webring with
open arms!
How do you know
if your tutorials are suitable for Beginners to
Intermediate?
Well, the way I
give the levels on my tutorials is to think back to the
first couple of months after you opened PSP for the very
first time. Would you have been able to follow
your tutorials back then and been able to come up with a
similar result to those that your tutorial is teaching?
If the answer is "yes" your tutorial is suitable for
Beginners and you are more than welcome to join this
ring!
If you wouldn't
have been able to follow your tutorial within the first
couple of months of opening up PSP, don't give up!!
Think to about 6 months to a year down the line
(although everyone learns at different speeds).
What had you learned by then? What did you know
how to do and what did you still find difficult?
If you have a tutorial that you could have managed
around that time then you have a tutorial suitable for
Intermediates and you are more than welcome to join this
ring!
I think I'm at
about Intermediate level now but it's taken me almost 18
months to get here. If I can follow your tutorial
and your site is family safe, you are in!
Things that'll
make me go "hmmm" about your site are plug-ins. I
can't get plug-ins to work on my machine so I don't know
what sort of level the tutorials are for that use them.
If I can follow your tutorial just by looking at your
screenshots and recreate something similar in PSP,
you're in, but I tend to think that Plug-ins are for
more Advanced users.
That doesn't mean
that if you've got a tutorial that uses plug-ins you
won't be accepted though!! Give it a try! I
look through every site that applies to join this ring
and you've got nothing to lose but everything to gain!
Give it a try! :o)
The one thing
that I definitely *will* say "no" to is node editing.
I just can't do it even after 18 months. Again,
that doesn't mean that if you've got a whole site full
of tutorials and just 1 of those uses nodes you
shouldn't apply... far from it!! It's just if
*all* your tutorials use node editing. As I said
above... apply and see what happens... you might
be surprised!! <grin>
I really would
love it if you joined this webring - I would like this
to be a webring where the newer users of PSP know that
they will find exactly what they are looking for on the
websites in this ring and that they will be able to do
these tutorials too!
There are lots of
websites out there that offer tutorials for Advanced
users but there seem to be very few that offer things
for the Beginners and Intermediates. I'd like to
start to change that by providing this webring for
everyone to use so that they know that what they see on
these sites they will definitely be able to do.
When you apply to
join, please put the webring code up on your website as
soon as possible... I'm pretty easy about how long I
wait, but anything over 2 weeks and I start getting a
bit impatient and anything over a month and you'll be
rejected - sorry!
You need to make
sure that your code is up on the same page that you put
into webring when you signed up to join this webring.
For example, if you put the URL
www.mysite.com for
the URL you need to put your fragment on your very first
page. If the URL you put into webring was
www.mysite.com/webrings.htm you need to put the code
on your webrings page.
When the webring
code is up on your site, log back into Webring and
"test" your website. If it comes up as "fails"
there's a link you can follow to reorder your stack of
webrings... have a bit of a play around with the order
and keep testing until it comes up saying "passes"...
this is the first thing I look for when I get a message
that someone would like to join the webring - if your
code isn't up and it doesn't show as "passes" I won't go
any further until it does. Sorry!
OK, so your code
is up and it's all working. What next? Now
you sit back and wait! :o) I'll go and have
a look around your website and make sure that it's
family safe and that your tutorials are suitable for
Beginner and/or Intermediate level.
When I've had a
chance to have a good look around you'll get a message
from me via webring - you'll either be approved or
denied. If I've approved you, you don't need to do
anything else... just sit back and wait for the visitors
to find your website. If you have been denied,
have a look in the message to see why I have denied your
website. Most things can be easily fixed - when
you've got it fixed you are more than welcome to
re-apply to the ring again! :o)
Think you like
the sound of this ring? Want to help to try and
make this the best ring on the internet for Beginner and
Intermediate tutorials? If the answer to either or
both of those questions is yes and you meet the
requirements of the ring then hit the "Join Webring"
button below! I can't wait to see your website!
:o)
